21 May Golden Retriever Portrait – Monti

Pet Portrait of the Week: Golden Retriever, Monti. Based on a reference photo taken by his owner, this handsome dog is enjoying a moment of meditation, inhaling the frosty air under softly falling snow. What a wonderful image of a much loved pet to capture and preserve in a portrait.

Monti was drawn on light grey Pastemat using Faber Castell Albrecht Durer and and Caran D’Ache Museum Aquarelle artists watercolour pencils. The dry pigment was blended with water and allowed to dry before being worked over with Luminance pencils and re-blended with Zest-It. I finished off the portrait with Polychromos and Pablo artist pencils.
