28 Mar Golden Retriever Portrait – Oscar

As a pet portrait artist and keen dog lover, I’m always humbled and honoured when asked to captured the spirit of a dearly departed pet with a memorial portrait.
Golden Retriever Oscar reached the grand age of 15, he is fondly remembered and sadly missed.

I was captivated by the fabulous contrast of light and shade in the photo that this portrait was drawn from and thoroughly enjoyed working on this handsome dog’s portrait.

The foundation layer for this project was drawn using water colour pencils on brown Pastelmat. The water soluble pigment was then blended and allowed to dry before being being worked over using oil based artists pencils.

Oscar’s portrait will be added to the collection of dog portraits and paintings currently available to buy as greeting cards.
