09 Feb Zoe’s Journey & Animal Health Trust

Zoe’s Journey raises funds on behalf of Animal Health Trust for canine cancer research. Incredibly, in just one year, the supporters of Zoe’s Journey have raised almost £50,000 for AHT.

When founder Jayne May contacted me late last year I was delighted to gift a dog portrait commission to be offered at auction.
Bidding was very generous, especially from one or two determined competitors, but a surprise late entry pipped them both at the post.

I couldn’t allow such determined and generous bidding be made in vain, so along with producing the ‘gifted’ painting for the auction winner, I offered to produce either a drawing or a painting for each of the runners-up at their high-bid amount and to make a contribution from their fee to the fundraising campaign. Both runners-up readily agreed.

Today I’m putting the finishing touches to this pop-art style painting of ‘Hitchcock’, a beloved and much missed boy who enjoyed almost 15 years of life. Hitch is the third of my Zoe’s Journey auction portraits. He follows two other beautiful Golden Retrievers ‘Caelan’ and ‘Oscar’ who’s portraits I completed last year.
