30 Mar Bernese Mountain Dog Portrait – Jess
This week I’ve been using graphite pencils instead of colours to create this portrait of my studio buddy, Bernese Mountain Dog, Jess.
This sassy little fruit loop is a rabbit chasing, fox-poo rolling, pheasant catching, sofa surfing, life-loving sweetheart with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.
Jess’ portrait was traditionally hand-drawn on heavy-weight, smooth-surface cartridge paper using Faber Castell 9000 artist pencils.
The darker tones are produced using softer 8B, 6B and 4B pencils with a combination of blending tools and the coat definition was achieved using harder 4H and 6H leads and a selection of erasers.
