16 Jan Cat Portrait – British Blue – Nimbin

I don’t often seem to have the opportunity of drawing pet cat portraits, but whenever I do I am utterly captivated by their eyes, and this handsome feline was no exception. Blue British Shorthair cat, Nimbin was such a handsome puss. He is fondly remembered and his memorial portrait was a delight to draw.

During the summer months Nimbin’s fur developed a soft salmon pink tint, but in the cooler winter months he sported the most stunning steely blue coat. He’s wearing his winter coat in this tribute portrait.

This full-frame, close up cat portrait was drawn in coloured pencil using Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran D’Ache Luminance 6901 on anthracite coloured Pastelmat.
